SugarBearHair Gummy Hair Vitamins Review

Let’s face it, hair loss is scary and can send you into a frenzy trying to restore those strands to their former glory.

You have probably come across Sugar Bear Hair Gummy hair vitamins, along with your search for the perfect hair growth vitamins.

These cute little blue bears have been all over Instagram and endorsed by the Kardashians, Vanessa Hudgens, and Amanda Staton.

But I had to know, are these vitamins worth the hype and your money? After a tragic hair accident, I, too, sought the solace of a quality hair growth supplement to repair my bleach-ridden hair.

Now, I do not consider company claims or celebrity endorsements enough research to declare whether a product is effective or not.

So, I did a deep dive (and a two-month test run) to see if these gummies live up to their claims of restoring your hair for good.

Before we dive in, here’s a little backstory to my journey with hair loss so we can put this review in context.

My Hair Journey

I am a bleach addict, who routinely jumps from dark black hair to platinum.

I love using a hair straightener and blow dry my hair daily!

I know this is terrible, and my stylist always warned me about the repercussions of my hair dye addiction. And you know what? My hair put up with all my over styling and bleaching until last year.

I took it one dye job too far and had what we call a “chemical cut.” This is where your hair falls out in clumps, and you lose inches of growth.

I also noticed thinning around my crown, and I will not so proudly admit that I cried about it.

After I wiped off my tears and tried to convince myself that wigs aren’t SO BAD, I decided it was time to find the best hair growth solutions to bring my hair back to life.

What Ingredients Are In Sugar Bear Hair Vitamins?

The most important component of finding the right hair growth supplement is ensuring it has the right ingredients.

The most common hair growth ingredient is biotin, so that is typically the first ingredient I will search for in my quest to long locks. Here is a full list of the ingredients Sugar Bear Hair adds to their gummies;

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D
  • Vitamin E
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin B-12
  • Folate
  • Biotin
  • Pantothenic acid
  • Iodine
  • Zinc
  • Sodium
  • Inositol

If you are looking at this list and wondering, what the heck these vitamins do, let me do a quick break down of each one and how they help you get that Pinterest hair you have always dreamed of! If you do not want a mini-nutritional crash course, skip ahead to the rest of the review.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A helps your cells grow, so your hair needs it to get long and strong. Vitamin A helps support a healthy balance of sebum, which sounds gross, but it’s essential to help your hair grow and protect your scalp.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is not just for your immune system; it also helps support collagen production, which is especially important for your hair structure.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D plays an essential role in hair follicle health, and a lack of this vitamin can cause hair loss (R1).

Vitamin E

Vitamin E had great results in a 2010 trial for improving hair loss (R2). Vitamin E also keeps your scalp healthy and helps fight off pesky free radicals in your body.

B-Vitamins (Biotin)

B Vitamins are essential to a healthy head of hair. More specifically, biotin is a little nutrient powerhouse that helps improve keratin structure (R3). B6 is excellent for reducing stress and protein metabolism, while B-12 helps produce healthy blood cells that nourish your hair follicles. Together these vitamins work to help grow stronger and healthier hair.

Folate

Folate is also known as folic acid and is responsible for supporting healthy cell growth (R4). Folate is less about hair growth and more about healthy cells. However, you need healthy cells to make your hair grow, so I love that they added folate to their formula.

Pantothenic Acid

Pantothenic acid is a b-vitamin and is excellent for energy metabolism, which means it turns your tasty food into energy! Pantothenic acid also supports healthy blood cells.

Iodine

If you lack iodine, you will experience hair loss. Adding iodine into a hair growth supplements helps support any potential deficiencies you might have. Iodine is also great for hormone health, your thyroid, and your brain.

Zinc

Zinc is a little powerhouse that attacks harmful fungus and promotes a healthy scalp. I am sure you know by now that a healthy scalp creates a solid foundation for healthy hair.

Sodium

I was a little surprised they added sodium into this formula. There are not many advantages to adding extra sodium into your diet for hair health, though it does have benefits for your skin.

Inositol

Hormones can play a significant role in hair loss for both men and women. Inositol works to support healthy hormones and shift your body into hormonal balance. Inositol is especially useful in helping with hair loss because of PCOS.

Are Sugar Bear Hair Growth Vitamins Vegan And Vegetarian Friendly?

I get bonus points for not announcing this at the very begging, but I am a vegetarian.

No, I will not go into some little agenda to trick you into going veg too (or is this subliminal trickery?) Kidding.

Still, I do care about sourcing my supplements in a cruelty-free manner, and I do not want to eat gelatin or other fillers and binders that use animal products.

I am happy to report that Sugar Bear Hair is vegetarian and also cruelty-free. The only questionable ingredient that might not work if you are vegan is vitamin D.

They source their vitamin D from wool, so while they do not use gelatin, they do use animal byproduct sourcing.

How Do These Hair Loss Vitamins Actually Taste?

Let me just tell you; these little guys are TASTY.

They have a light fruity flavor that I could easily eat one too many.

That being said, they do add some sugars and carbs to your day. Each serving has 15 calories and 4 grams of carbs. They also have 3 grams of sugar. Now personally, this does not bother me, but I thought it was worth noting.

Do They Work to Regrow Hair?

OK, here are the deets you have been waiting for.

After two months of use, I can say that I saw a significant improvement in my hair health. I had an inch of growth in two months, which is a lot faster than my average hair growth.

However, I did not see an increase until the second month of use. My hair was falling out less, and I have lots of little new hairs growing where I had some thinning spots.

While I can attest to their effectiveness in supporting my hair growth goals, I experienced some downsides while using Sugar Bear Hair.

In the first month, I started experiencing some cystic acne around my jawline and on my back. I had never experienced this before, and at first, I blamed my diet and tried to pinpoint why I was breaking out.

I did a little research and found that others had this same problem while using the product.

I was caught in a tug of war with my emotions because my hair was growing fast, but my skin was suffering. After some debate, I decided to give it one more month to see if my skin would get used.

My acne relaxed a bit, and I had one or two fun pimples pop up, but it was not as bad as the first month. I will note that I have extremely sensitive skin, which may have played a role in developing cystic acne.

While this was not a deal-breaker, I am all about honesty, so I wanted to share it.

What Do I Love About Sugar Bear Hair?

Here is a quick look at what I love about the Sugar Bear Hair vitamins and why I would recommend them:

  • They are tasty!
  • They have great ingredients.
  • They don’t test on animals.
  • They work.
  • They are relatively affordable at $30 per month.

I love having a sweet treat in the morning that is chock-full of vitamins and is speeding up my hair growth.

I wish they were a little cheaper, but I still found the $30 per month affordable and comparable to other similar products.

What I Don’t Love

I wish these were fully vegan and not sourced from wool.

I did not realize this until after I started taking them, since they said they were vegetarian. That is more of personal preference, but worth mentioning.

I also did not enjoy the cystic acne, that was almost a deal-breaker for me, because who wants to sacrifice healthy hair for a face full of breakouts.

I cannot speak to your skin, but after a month this cleared up. However, I have seen some reviews say that their skin got continually worse.

I would just say to pay attention to your skin as you start taking them.
